Abstract
At the request of the Government of Colombia, the IEA prepared this report to provide Colombian and international stakeholders with a clear outline of how Colombia can achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and the role the energy sector can play. Centred on the IEA's Announced Pledges Scenario (APS), the roadmap presents a possible — but not the only — pathway to net zero, covering the power sector, transport, industry, buildings and clean fuels. The report projects a 30% reduction in energy-related emissions by 2035 relative to today, driven by rapid solar and wind deployment, electrification of end uses, and sharp cuts in methane emissions. It also examines investment needs, just transition considerations, and the critical role of international public finance in enabling Colombia's clean energy pivot.
